Important Points for Citing Webpages

  • Use the webpages citing category only if there is no other reference category that fits.
    • Make sure to check the grey literature section.
  • If you cite multiple webpages on a website, create a reference for each page.
  • When the author name and the site name are the same, omit the site name from the reference (see Group Author example).
  • Remember that an organization or a group can be an author.
  • Only include a retrieval date when the contents of the pages are designed to change over time and the page itself is not archived.
    • An example is the CDC Coronavirus tracker.
