More detailed Information on appendices can be found on pages 41 & 42 of the APA manual.
General Guidelines
- Each appendix should begin on separate page after all other materials, including tables and figures.
- Each appendix receives a label and a title. If there is a single appendix, the label is simply Appendix. If there is more than one, Use capital letters to define them. Example: Appendix A
- All appendices should be mentioned at least once in the text by their label. Example: "see Appendix C"
- Appendices should appear in the order they are mentioned in the body of the paper.
- On their first pages, the appendix label and title should appear Bold and centered on SEPARATE lines at top of the page. Both should use title case.
- An appendix may contain text, tables, figures, or a combination.
- If it contains tables or figures, label each with a number preceded by the letter of the appendix. Example: Table A3. If there is a single appendix, use the letter A.
PLEASE NOTE: If the appendix consists of a single table or figure and no other elements, then the appendix label and title are also used as the figure label without the word figure or table preceding it. Example: Appendix B: Births in Connecticut, 2021-2024
