AMA Citation (11th Edition) Help

This guide was created as a basic guide for using AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition. Some of the health science fields such as physician assistants and physical therapy use the AMA Manual of Style.

Podcast examples

Example from a journal

Author last name, First name initial. Title of podcast. Journal title abbreviated and italicized. Year; Podcast (Volume): Page number.

Example from the web:

Author last name, First name initial. Name of the podcast series. Name of the episode. Date created or updated. Date accessed. URL. 

Nate. The Show About Science. Butterflies with Doug Taron. October 11, 2016. Accessed January 10, 2019. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-show-about-science/id1046413761

  • Include the date the podcast was created or updated. If you know the date it was created, place it after the URL. If you know the date it was updated, place that date after the URL instead and include the word "Updated." The Updated date takes precedence over the Published date. You do not need to include both.

  • Always put the date that you accessed the podcast. Include the word "Accessed."

  • Author(s)
  • Podcast title 
  • Journal Title Abbreviation or Name of Podcast Series
  • Date
  • Volume number
  • Issue number
  • Part or supplement (if relevant)
  • Inclusive page numbers
  • DOI or URL (if online)
  • Accessed date (if online - only if using URL)
