AMA Citation (11th Edition) Help

This guide was created as a basic guide for using AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition. Some of the health science fields such as physician assistants and physical therapy use the AMA Manual of Style.

General Guidelines

  • Most lecturers would rather you did not cite the lecture notes, but found the relevant information in books, journals or other such resources. Only use lecture notes if you cannot find the information elsewhere.
  • Class handouts are often copied or taken from other sources. Find the original source, if possible.
  • If there is no attributed author, begin the reference with the title of the document.
