• In Plain Sight Digital Guidebook: Normalizing Diverse Clinical Presentations in Obstetrics and Gynecology

  To address this gap in medical knowledge and advance racial equity in gynecologic and gender-based medicine, medical students in Districts IV and VII have created In Plain Sight: Normalizing Diverse Clinical Presentations in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This guidebook provides clinical photographs of various pathologies seen commonly in obstetrics and gynecology.

  This report presents maternal mortality rates for 2023 based on data from the National Vital Statistics System.
• Insights into the U.S. Maternal Mortality Crisis: An International Comparison

  This brief updates an earlier Commonwealth Fund study of differences in maternal mortality, maternal care workforce composition, and access to postpartum care and social protections between the U.S. and other high-income countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
• Pregnancy-Related Deaths: Data from Maternal Mortality Review Committees

  Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) at the CDC are multidisciplinary committees that convene at the state or local level to comprehensively review deaths during or within a year of pregnancy (pregnancy-associated deaths). MMRCs have access to clinical and non-clinical information (e.g., vital records, medical records, social service records) to more fully understand the circumstances surrounding each death, determine whether the death was pregnancy-related, and develop recommendations for action to prevent similar deaths in the future.

  SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective was formed in 1997 by 16 organizations of women of color from four mini-communities (Native American, African American, Latina, and Asian American) who recognized that they have the right and responsibility to represent themselves and their communities, and the equally compelling need to advance the perspectives and needs of women of color.

  We are advocates from all different backgrounds and communities who believe passionately that all families deserve healthy starts to life.We are sharing our stories to help raise awareness of the link between racism and premature birth as well as other poor birth outcomes while connecting pregnant people to the advocates, organizations and resources who are helping counteract the risks.

• Betsey, Lucy, and Anarcha Days of Recognition

  Every year on February 28 and March 1, the dates that bridge Black History Month and Women’s History Month, ACOG formally acknowledges Betsey, Lucy, and Anarcha, the three enslaved Black women whose exploitation led to foundational advances in the field of obstetrics and gynecology that benefit millions of patients today.
• Birthing Reproductive Justice: 150 Years of Images and Ideas

  Reproductive Justice - the right to have children, not to have children, and to parent children in healthy and safe environments -- is a movement and perspective that arose in the 1990s as a broader alternative to reproductive rights advocacy focused on limited debates around abortion and pro-life/pro-choice issues. This exhibit provides a visual narrative of the emergence and antecedents of reproductive justice.
