Alongside reference management tools, systematic review management tool can help tremendously with the screening and data extraction process. These systematic review-specific tools can assist with screening, data extraction, and more. Anyone conducting a systematic review should be utilizing this software. There are both free and fee-required systematic review management software. A select few will be discussed on this page.

Covidence is a web-based program hat allows research teams to manage their bibliographic data, PDFs, forms for risk of bias, and data extraction. Paid subscription required.
PICO Portal

A free web-based program to that helps expedite the initial screening of abstracts and titles using a process of semi-automation while incorporating a high level of usability. Authors can create systematic reviews, collaborate on them, maintain them over time and get suggestions for article inclusion. Free web tool.

Colandr is a web-based, open access platform for conducting evidence reviews. Colandr's design is structured around the steps of a systematic evidence synthesis, however, it can be used for all types of reviews/syntheses of documents. Free with account registration.
Microsoft Excel
Excel is the most basic tool for the management of the screening and data extraction stages of the systematic review process. Customized workbooks and spreadsheets can be designed for the review process. All QU students have access to Microsoft Excel through Office 365.
