The terms data and statistics are often used interchangeably; however, in scholarship there is a distinct difference that is important to understand as you choose your sources. Data are generally considered raw information and are the product of research. Data often come in machine-readable formats and are analyzed. One of those outputs are Statistics. Statistics are an end-product of data that have be interpreted, analyzed and presented in a specific manner - this could be a table, a chart, a graph, or just a number or percentage.
