It is ok to take a break for a few minutes to refresh your mind and body. Taking a break can help you stay motivated, prevent burnout, and increase your energy, productivity and focus. You may return from your break feeling energized and refreshed.
For starters, here are some simple stress busters:
1. Change the scenery. Changing your location can be refreshing. Don't sit in the same space all day.
2. Spend time outdoors. Taking a walk outdoors can lower your blood pressure. Dress for the elements; bring sunscreen or snowshoes!
3. Practice Mindful Meditation. Be in the moment.
4. Practice Yoga. Yoga is great for mental health and increase energy.
5. Write things down. Writing can reduce stress. Let your pen guide you or focus on a topic such a gratitude.
6. Play a game. Games can provide entertainment alone or with friends. (However, if you know you are a compulsive gamer, hold off until after the semester.)
7. Put on some music. Play some music you love and can sing along to. Put something on that will uplift your mood.
