Payton Rae Mickey, who passed unexpectedly in July 2021, was a recent Quinnipiac University graduate, receiving her bachelor's degree in 2018 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2021. She was a member of the Quinnipiac women’s field hockey team, Camp No Limits and the Co-Director of the EQUIP Eboard. Payton was always full of energy, passion and kindness, with a smile that could light up any room. She loved to travel and live life to the fullest.
Dozens of her friends, family, and faculty donated books in her name, creating the new Payton Rae Mickey Health & Wellness Collection housed in the Edward and Barbara Netter Health Sciences Library. This collection of books (with a duplicate collection in the Arnold Bernhard Library) has been launched to support the mental, emotional and physical wellness of members of the Quinnipiac University community. The collection is designed to help encourage education around common topics of interest including insomnia, body image issues, anxiety, stress management and many more. These books can help give you tools to provide care for yourself, a friend or loved one in need, if struggling with any of these issues.
The collection was unveiled at a dedication ceremony in the Netter Library held on April 2, 2022. The dedication was attended by members of Payton’s family, friends and many Quinnipiac staff and faculty.
