Primary Library Database: Passport (GMID)

Passport (GMID): This online market research tool monitors industry trends and gives you strategic analysis and a market size and market share database for all your products across all your key countries. Passport is Euromonitor International's global market analysis software platform, which analyses the industry in countries around the world. 

There are multiple ways to get at the information, of which there is a great deal, so explore.  Pay attention to the type of Analysis reports that you find, to get a feel for the type of information each provides.   For instance, there are Global Company Profiles and Local Company Profiles.  Both can have statistics on company and brand shares, distribution, pricing, and products by ingredient.   

Passport is a comprehensive database for international business research.    

Country Information in Passport

You can search for the business climate in a country by entering the phrase, Business Dynamics: followed by the country name.  For example, Business Dynamics: Mexico

Below is a screen shot of the beginning of the entry for Mexico.  Please note the other reports dealing with Mexico that are identified in the left margin under the heading "More Related Items."

Passport User Guide

The Passport (GMID) User Guide presents an overview of the Passport (GMID) database.  It is a great place to learn about or review the options for searching the database and the types of information available.

Please remember that Passport uses the left margin for accessing additional and related information.  When reading a report of a country, company or article always check the left margin, particularly the closed drop down menus.  Do open them, one example follows - screen shot below:

The last entry "More Related Items" may prove to be very helpful.  The item topics (shown in the screen shot below) are very similar except the country changes reflecting the emphasis of the topic.  For instance, Brazil was the country of interest.

PEST Analysis

To search for a PEST Analysis in Passport:

  • In the search bar on the Passport homepage enter the phrase:  Pest Analysis: - and then the country name of interest. 
    • For example: PEST Analysis: Mexico
