Introducing Expedited Delivery

In Spring 2023 the Quinnipiac University Libraries piloted Expedited Delivery of articles from a small set of journals. The original set of journals is drawn from cancelled Sage journals, which were very expensive to subscribe to, but some Quinnipiac users still needed access to the content. 

• Expedited Delivery is available only to full-time and emeritus faculty.
• Requests will be filled 24X7.
• After a request, a digital copy of an article will be delivered via your email, usually within one hour.
• To submit a request, you must use your Quinnipiac email address, in the format firstname.lastname@quinnipiac.edu.
• There is never a charge to you to use Expedited Delivery.

Requesting Articles

When you need an article not subscribed to by Quinnipiac, you have three options:

• Open Access: a free version of the article. Open Access links are available in Google Scholar, OneSearch, Pubmed and other databases.
• Traditional Interlibrary Loan: You will log into our Interlibrary Loan form and submit a request. A digital copy of your article will be delivered to you within 1 to 3 days.
• Expedited Delivery: digital delivery of an article within 1 to 2 hours. At this time, available to fulltime faculty and emeritus faculty only. 

How to Use Expedited Delivery

1. Search for the article in the  OneSearch.
2. If you don't find your article in OneSearch, try selecting Add results beyond your library collection. 
3. If you find the article click on the title. If Quinnipiac doesn't have immediate access you'll see something like this:

4. From here you may:

• Request This Item: this is an interlibrary loan request. Click on the button, log into the system, and submit the form (it should mostly be filled in). A digital file of the article will be delivered to your email within 1 to 3 days. 
• Choose Expedited Delivery (for faculty only): Once you click this link you will be prompted to enter your email. You must use the format firstname.lastname@quinnipiac.edu. Once you submit the request, you will get the article within an hour.

5. When you do not have access to Expedited Delivery: at this time, Expedited Delivery is only available as a pilot program to full-time faculty and emeritus faculty. If you enter a Quinnipiac email address but you do not have access to Expedited Delivery you will see a screen offering only interlibrary loan, as below. You may order the article here using regular interlibrary loan, which may take 1 to 3 days.

Google Scholar

Expedited Delivery and Interlibrary Loan options are also available in Google Scholar. Set your Google Scholar preferences so that Full-Text @ Quinnipiac U links are displayed.
