If the research topic is interdisciplinary, Library OneSearch, on the library homepage, might work well. It will seach the online catalog and most databases. The search results can be large.

Provides comprehensive indexing and abstracting coverage for more than 13,800 journals with more than 9,000 full-text. The database is updated daily and includes more than 7,800 peer-reviewed journals, full-text periodicals, reports, books and more. PDF content dates back to 1887 and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals. Contains a searchable image collection.

CQ Electronic Library
CQ Press Library - the place to search or browse resources on American government, current affairs, history, politics, public policy, and data analysis for the social sciences. Included in this database are the following resources: CQ Almanac, Politics in America, and the Supreme Court Yearbook.

Full-text access to more than 300 scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences. Years covered vary by title.
Roper Center Dataset Collection
The Roper Center acquires, preserves and makes accessible thousands of individual-level datasets based on surveys conducted since the 1930s. The collection provides opportunities for researchers to conduct detailed secondary analysis to discover new insights years after the original survey was released. Over 11,000 US studies and almost as many surveys from other countries are currently stored and maintained by the Center.
