LGBTQIA+ Resources for the Quinnipiac University Community: LGBTQIA+ Community at QU: A Timeline, 1969 - 2019

This document is a a chronological timeline of events that provides an overview of Quinnipiac's LGTBQ+ community as written about in articles published in the undergraduate student newspaper, The Quinnipiac Chronicle. The timeline was created by Public Services Librarian Bob Young for the Arnold Bernhard Library's LGTBQ+ History Month Exhibit that was displayed in October 2019.

The first article to appear in The Quinnipiac Chronicle about the LGBTQ+ student community was published in the October 7, 1976 issue. Written by features editor Liz Natale and titled “Gay Liberation at QC,” the article reported on the efforts of an undergraduate lesbian couple, Loraine Angueira and Judi Feldman, to establish the first student organization on campus, the short-lived Quinnipiac College Gay Alliance. In addition to covering the creation of the Gay Alliance, the article provides details about the couple’s relationship and also the campus climate for LGBTQ+ students attending Quinnipiac at that time.
