Mergent Intellect User Guide

This guide will show users how to navigate the Mergent Intellect database to access private and public U.S and international business data, industry news, industry profiles and much more.

About the Advanced Search

Mergent Intellect's Advanced Search will allow you to create lists of companies based on size, industry, location, financials and other criteria.

To access the Advanced Search, click on the Advanced Search link on the database homepage:

Search Criteria

The Advanced Search allows you to search by Company Criteria and Executive Criteria.

To add Company Criteria to your search:

  1. Select from the listed criteria types, including:
    • Company - Public/Private, Minority Owned, Women Owned, Rankings, etc.
    • Location - Country/Region, State, City, Zip Code, etc.
    • Industry - SIC Code, NAICS Code, HIC Code
    • Size - Sales, Employment, etc.
    • Financial Information - Total Revenue, Net Income, etc.
    • Keywords
  2. When you want to add criteria, be sure to click the Add to Criteria+ button for each option you select.
  3. A list of criteria that you selected will be displayed near the bottom of your screen. From here you can see how many companies matched your criteria.
    • If needed, you can remove criteria here by clicking on the X button next to each criterion.
  4. Click Search to see the list of resulting companies that match your search.

Build Files

To export report data to an Excel format, use the Build Files button.

  1. After performing an Advanced Search, select which records you want data for.
    • You can either check off the boxes next to individual company names;
    • Or you can select the "All" option near the top of the results to export all records retrieved.
  2. After you've selected some company records, click the Build Files button.
  3. A page will open allowing you to check off boxes next to criteria that you want to export.
  4. Once you select the criteria you want to export, scroll down to the bottom of the page and Enter a File Name into the box.
  5. Click Build Files.
  6. A pop-up box will prompt you to either download the file directly onto your device or you can email the file to yourself.Advanced Search Results page. Check off boxes next to companies and click Build Files button to export data.Build Files Criteria page.
