HS 340 - Native American History: Locating Books

QCat

Use online catalog of the Arnold Bernhard Library, the Netter Health Sciences Library and the Pantalena Law Library.  Begin with a keyword search when researching a topic.

Books dealing with history will have call numbers beginning with D, or F and are shelved in the circulation area on the second floor, the QU New Books area and the reference area on the first floor.

Remember to check the bibliography/references/works cited against the online catalog (Books/DVDs link) and the Journal Finder link for journal articles. If not included in Quinnipiac's collection, submit an interlibrary loan request.

**Please remember that most of our new books are in electronic format and do not have call numbers but they are searchable in the online catalog just as paper copy books are.

Search the Catalog for Books and Multimedia

Books and DVDs Use a unified search that returns results from databases, the library catalog, and journals.
Advanced search options are available in the Quinnipiac Library Catalog.

Call Numbers

Every book is assigned a unique call number according to the Library of Congress classification.  Understanding what the numbers mean can aid your research.  For example, History:

The numbers can refer to several different categories such as genre or time period.  A breakdown of call numbers can be found on The Library of Congress's website

Depending on your topic, you can often find helpful resources just by searching the shelves for books with similar call numbers.
