IBISWorld User Guide

This guide will show users how to navigate the IBISWorld database to search for US industry analysis and company benchmarking reports.

How to Access

Content Coverage & Description

IBISWorld provides access to all of the following types of content:

  • US Industry Reports - Extensive reports containing key statistics, market analysis (i.e. SWOT analysis), future forecasts, and more!
  • Business Environment - Profiles that provide insight into key drivers, such as exchange rates, interest rates, weather conditions, consumer attitudes, demographics, and more.
  • Segment Benchmarking - Industry data broken down by operator size and revenue to get you closer to that apples-to-apples comparison.
  • Company Benchmarking - Analysis of thousands of leading public and private companies. These profiles consist of an overview of the company and a breakdown of how it performs in the industries it operates in.

To access these products in IBISWorld:

  1. Click on Products in the menu at the top of the page.
  2. This will open up to a dropdown menu of product options to explore.

How to Search

To search across all IBISWorld products, use the main search bar on the database homepage.

When you type your keyword/s into the search bar, suggested searches will appear below. You can select one of these suggested searches to go directly to that content page or you can select the View More Results link to bring you to the full list of results.

Using NAICS

IBISWorld makes it easy to search for industry reports and information by NAICS code. You can browse NAICS codes directly in IBISWorld by clicking on Industries in the top menu.

Or you can search for NAICS codes on the official Census Bureau website for the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS):

The more digits there are in the NAICS code number, the more granular the industry.

IBISWorld Help

Once you've logged into the IBISWorld database, you can find additional resources to help you navigate the database by clicking on the Resources menu item at the top of the page. You can also click on the Question Mark button in the bottom right corner of the database homepage.

This will open up to a dropdown menu with links to the Help Center. Here you can access links to:

  • Getting Started Guides & Video Tutorials
  • Using IBISWorld Guides & Video Tutorials

From the IBISWorld homepage, click on Resources to open up to links to the Help Center.
