Note: When searching the  PubMed database, click on  to see if we have the full text in another database or in print.  

PubMed Search Example

Example Topic: Methycillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

The graphics are snips from PubMed or the Library pages showing examples

  • Click on Advanced Search, enter search term, MRSA, into search box in PubMed and click "and".   

        

  • Search term is now added to Query box.  To add another term type in Infection to the search box and click "and".  Both terms are now added to the Query box. Click Search.

In left margin choose filters

Scroll down and click on Additional filters. Choose additional filters and click on Article Type(choose Journal Article), Click on Species (choose Humans), Click on Language (choose English), and click show.  

 

On the left hand side of the results, check off journal article, systemic reviews, publication date (5 years), Humans and English.

 Access full - Article

To bring up the full-text article, click on the title and click on Q Check for full-text.   Always look for the PDF.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you need a book or journal article that is not held by Quinnipiac University, you may request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). 

Five (5) requests are allowed per week and the service is free. 

ILL requests should be submitted online from the Bernhard Library Page (On left side, click on Services for Students link). 

A minimum of two (2) weeks must be allowed for the receipt of material; therefore a "Not Needed After" date of at least 14 days in the future must be provided.
