Ranked 16th in the country by U.S. News & World Report and first in Connecticut, our physician assistant program is focused on building a strong scientific foundation as well as leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills through hands-on clinical experience.

Our entry-level Dual-Degree BS in Health Science Studies/MHS in Physician Assistant program takes you through four years of preprofessional undergraduate training and a 27-month professional component that leads to your master of health science degree. Our program is nationally recognized with almost all of our graduates securing their first-choice jobs within months of graduation.

Jason Prevelige MHS ’09, MBA ‘21, always had natural leadership ability, however, little did he realize the impact he’d make on people’s lives both locally and nationally. He was recently elected president-elect of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA).

Like many great entrepreneurial success stories, it began with solving a problem for Pete Sandor `97, MHS `01, MBA `20. The physician assistant and Quinnipiac adjunct professor needed a way to teach colleagues how to safely care for tracheostomized patients.

As a second-year graduate physician assistant student, Claire Aurilio ’22, MHS ’24, already has the distinction of coauthoring a publication with her preceptor.

Hailing from Ahmedabad, India, Dagli is on track to become the first international student to graduate from the BS in Health Science Studies / MHS in Physician Assistant (4+27 months), also known as the Entry Level Masters Physician Assistant [ELMPA] Program.

Healthcare students can be isolated in their studies, but a new podcast is connecting prospective physician assistants to members from all levels of the PA community.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, the PAEA’s most prestigious award, honors those who have reached the pinnacle of their careers in PA education. Each year, it recognizes a current or former program faculty or staff member who has made extraordinary contributions to PA education over a sustained period of time.

Delilah Dominguez, MHS ’20, was selected as the national Student of the Year by the American Academy of Physician Assistants, a professional organization that represents nearly 140,000 members.

Alec Williams '22, MHS '24, has been elected chief delegate of the Student Academy of the American Academy of Physician Associates.

John DeFrancisco, a second-year graduate student in the physician assistant program, has been selected as a 2024-25 Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Student Health Policy Fellow.

This podcast, developed with current students, debuted in February 2022 under the advisement of Shahana Lee Theriault, clinical assistant professor of physician assistant studies. The project's mission is to give insight to prospective and current PA students as well as practicing PAs in the field. Current episodes discuss the journey to PA school with tips on how to "survive" once accepted while upcoming episodes will focus on specific specialties in medicine, underrepresented aspects of healthcare and leadership opportunities for PAs.
